MR RUSSIA
MR RUSSIA
MR RUSSIA is a combination of relentless rhythm, solid bass lines, and cantankerous vocals which one could describe as the bastard offspring of grunge punk and industrial. They are a double barreled shot of bass and drums fury. Full of hooks and melodies commonly associated only with "guitar rock", MR RUSSIA shows off just how much can be done with a tight rhythm section. The Chicago two-piece welcomes easy comparisons to Shellac, Death from Above 1979, and Royal Blood, while drawing influences from harder-to-pinpoint sources such as PJ Harvey and Swans.

On August 17, 2017 MR RUSSIA will release their pounding, pièce de résistanc,'Big Noise'. Recorded in Chicago by Neil Strauch (Iron & Wine / Joan of Arc / Andrew Bird) and mixed by Lowell Reynolds (White Stripes / Neil Young / Beck), the album attempts to capture what makes a MR RUSSIA show so memorable. The 'Big Noise' title may be a reference to how powerful and loud the two man combo of MR RUSSIA is, or it may be a nod to the song "Big Noise from Winnetka", a spontaneous composition of bass and drums created in Chicago in 1938.

With a reputation for furious, sweat soaked live shows, the eleven tracks on 'Big Noise' are a reflection of the band's steady touring. MR RUSSIA stands to prove their bass and drum combo is here to demand some serious attention.
Soft Ledges
Blending delicate storytelling with angular post-punk fury, Soft Ledges crack the walls between loud and soft, darkness and light. Driven by the voice and words of singer/guitarist Shelley Miller and the fiery playing of Andrea Bunch (guitar/keys), Chris Geisler (bass) and Raul Cotaquispe (drums), Soft Ledges exists to tease whispers out from under locked tongues...to rub the tender bellies of ghosts, tell them it's alright to come out; to come in.
