Sounds pretty formulaic, right? In fact, these days it seems like every time you go to the record store or turn on the television, yet another band has picked up the electric standard of the eighties. Unfortunately most have missed the point, more concerned as they are with fashion and appearances. Is Inspector Owl another one of these bands? Nah. They're too busy smiling to put on girl pants. Hailing from the manicured lawns and homogenized homes of suburbia IL, the boys of Inspector Owl get the joke. There are no genteel looks, frenzied riffs or brutal breakdowns to be found here, and the only windmills seen in town are on postcards of that one down by the river. Imagine if Peter Gabriel and Ben Gibbard had starred in the film "Twins" with equal billing, and both were for some reason inexplicably cheery; Inspector Owl would be their hideous, bearded love-child. Employing a full breadth of technical and programming knowledge, the boys of Inspector Owl craft intensely varied songs populated with everything from regrets to robots, but all getting down to audaciously dancy beats. Axe-man / chanteuse / beep-maker Corey Wills strums the captivating hooks while gentleman Jesse Fisher pounds out the precision rhythm. Throw in the mix the bass-slinging dynamo that is JasonThompson and you truly have something to marvel at. So come on out to a show and say hi.
