THE CITY ON FILM Grand Theft Autumn ![]() Bob Nanna Biography The City On Film had its humble beginnings in 1998 as a solo acoustic side project for Robert Nanna. A softer, quieter version of his work as the lead singer / guitarist of bands like Braid and Hey Mercedes, Nanna did a number of small headlining tours in the midwest, northeast, and southwest, and drew an impressive number of curious kids, even without the help of a proper full length LP or an established record label. 2005 sees The City On Film blossom from bedroom side project to full blown powerhouse with a full band debut LP/CD," In Formal Introduction", in stores June 21 on Grand Theft Autumn Records (Braid, Hey Mercedes, Kind Of Like Spitting, Shiner). Showcasing the impressive songwriting skills we’ve grown to love, he’s layered his unmistakable vocal strength and witty wordplay with a new set of instrumentation. Take Jawbox, Bright Eyes, and The Killers, throw in a dash of Red House Painters, and top it off with some Cursive and you may come close to describing the music of The City On Film. Armed with this new hefty orchestration of guitars, drums, strings and keys, Nanna and his posse are hitting the road destined for a town near you. Take our word for it, this will surely be a grand sight to see. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Discography "Split 7' w/ Minus The Bear'- (Polyvinyl)- 2006 "American Diary" EP (Redder Records)- 2005 "In Formal Introduction" LP (Grand Theft Autumn)- Spring 2005 "Little Informal" (Grand Theft Autumn)- 2005 Split w/ Daniel G Harmon (Post 436 Rec)- 2004 "I Would Rather Be Wine Drunk" (Post 436 Rec)- 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Links Official Website- www.CityOnFilm.com Listen at- Myspace.com Label- Grand Theft Autumn Booking- john@kickstandproductions.net |
